Jasmin Molnar, B.A., J.D.
Jasmin Molnar, B.A., J.D., is a Student-at-Law, articled to Brian Beresh, K.C. at Beresh Law.
Following a quick, 10-year sojourn in British Columbia, Jasmin returned to her hometown of Edmonton, Alberta to complete her studies at the University of Alberta and pursue a career as a criminal defence lawyer.
While at the University of Alberta, Jasmin obtained both a Bachelor of Arts degree in 2022 (with Distinction, majoring in Psychology and minoring in English), as well as a Juris Doctor degree from the Faculty of Law in 2025. She received a number of awards over the course of her studies, including the Sylvester C McGoey Criminal Law Memorial Award for 2025.
Throughout law school, Jasmin expressly sought out courses focused on litigation and a criminal defence practice, including Advanced Criminal Law, Advanced Criminal Trial Advocacy, Advanced Evidence, Advocacy, Constitutional Litigation, Criminal Procedure, Prison Law, Sentencing, the Law of Sexual Assault, and Wrongful Convictions.
Jasmin also devoted herself to the Student Legal Services (SLS) Criminal Law Project during her time at the Faculty of Law, where she successfully resolved criminal and regulatory charges faced by dozens of individuals – both at trial, as well as in negotiation with the prosecution. Jasmin has experience working on a wide range of criminal matters, including violent crime and property offences, impaired driving, and drug possession.
After volunteering with SLS in her first year of law school, Jasmin was hired by the Criminal Law Project as a full-time case worker and subsequently elected to the position of Project Coordinator. In these roles, Jasmin not only balanced her own caseload and studies, but also oversaw the file work of over 100 volunteers; liaised with advising lawyers; maintained relationships with partners in the legal community; and promoted the Criminal Law Project in the community to better reach those who could benefit from assistance.
Jasmin is truly delighted to have the opportunity to continue working in criminal defence under the tutelage of Mr. Beresh, where her goal is to strengthen her advocacy skills and command of the criminal law.
