Throughout law school, he worked at the Student Legal Services Criminal Law Project (SLS), a legal clinic that represents low-income individuals facing criminal and regulatory charges. He began as a volunteer caseworker providing legal information and was then hired as a full-time Day Leader, where he managed criminal files and supervised student volunteer shifts. In his third year, he was elected Coordinator of the Project and supervised more than 100 students working on criminal files.
At SLS, he wrote several Charter notices and proposals to the Crown prosecution that resulted in the withdrawal of charges. He also conducted a trial and several sentencing hearings, appeared regularly in docket court, and negotiated favourable resolutions with Crown prosecutors.
He received numerous awards recognizing his dedication to SLS, including the Bryan & Company Student Leadership Award and the Law Class of 1971 Award.
During law school, Kristopher focused almost exclusively on criminal law and excelled in classes such as Advanced Criminal Law, Advanced Criminal Trial Advocacy, Sentencing, and Constitutional Litigation. He also participated in the Sopinka criminal mock trial program. In his final year, he achieved First Class Standing.
Kristopher brings a broad range of work and life experience that helps him to relate to clients from all walks of life. Before entering law, he worked as a bailiff, on drilling rigs throughout Alberta, and in the cannabis industry. He also pursued entrepreneurial ventures.
Kristopher is excited to begin his career at Beresh Law and looks forward to helping you understand your rights and protecting them throughout your case.
